Why are LED lights better?

Unlike traditional bulbs, which utilize a fragile and brittle metal filament, LEDs are solid state and have no moving parts, making them resistant to shock and vibration.
Traditional incandescent bulbs waste much of the power applied to them in the form of heat. By contrast LEDs run at over 90% efficiency, producing far less heat and far more light. This results in LEDs producing a very high light output with a low current draw.

The low heat properties of LEDs also make them much safer to work around. LEDs produce pure white light with color and brightness stability and no deterioration in light quality over time.

LED lighting is to incandescent lighting, as incandescent lighting was to the candle!

Who uses LED lights?

Just about anyone who needs a quality reliable source, especially for prolonged use where low current draw, durability, ruggedness, and reliability are paramount. You will find LED lights and light bars on just about every type of offroad vehicle, Jeep, Rock Buggy, Toyota, Hummer; on ATV/UTV 4x4s and mules, Polaris, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha,John Deere; on pick-up trucks, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota; and on race vehicles, Score, Baja, Desert, Track, KOH. They are also heavily used in the military, defense, mining, trucking, robotics, marine, boating, police, fire, and EMS fields.

How long do LEDs last?

With a lifespan of 50,000 hours LEDs far outlast any other form of lighting. You could run a LED light for nearly 6 years continuously 24/7 before you would expect to see any LEDs failing. If you used them for 8 hours a day, every day of the year, they would last over 17 years.

What is your warranty?

We offer a full no-hassle FULL REPLACEMENT warranty on our LED Lighting.

Does your warranty cover the LEDs?

Yes, we do not class LEDs as “consumables” and they are covered under our warranty.

How do I make a warranty claim?

To receive a Warranty Authorization please contact the Snevey’s Offroad or the Dealer you purchased the product from. Then send the product back to us.

What if a I break the light myself?

To receive a Repair Authorization please contact the Dealer you purchased the product from. Then send the product back to us and we will inspect it. If the product is repairable we will notify you of any charges before carrying out the repair.

Are your lights waterproof?

Yes, all our lights have an Ingress Protection Rating of IP67 or IP68, which means they are totally sealed to dust and submersible to 1 meter or beyond. All lights come supplied with weatherproof connectors.

Do I need to use a relay?

All of our light bars come with a wiring harness that includes a relay. Our LED light kits come with a switch controlled wiring harness with no relay. For lights with a combined power consumption of less than 60 watts a relay is not required, provided you use a suitably rated switch. Although many switches are rated for 10 amps or more, we do recommend using a relay for lights with a combined power consumption of over 60 watts. Any quality light harness with relay will work with our lights.

What is the color temperature of your lights?

Our lights produce a color temperature of 6000K (Kelvin). 6000K represents midday sun. We have found that light of 6000K offers the highest level of color rendering. As you increase the color temperature above 6000K the light will become more blue in color and renders colors less accurately and is also harsher to view. As you decrease the color temperature below 6000K the light will become more yellow in color and will also render colors less accurately. It should be noted that color temperature is not an indication of how bright a light is, that is measured in Lux and is a direct relationship to the luminous flux (Lumens) and beam angle, not the color temperature.

Which LEDs are in your lights?

We use Cree LEDs. Cree is a multi-national manufacturer of LED lights with manufacturing facilities in the USA and China. Cree brought the first blue LED to the market, and blue LEDs are the cornerstone of white LED lighting.

Why do some LEDs look yellow when turned off?

The yellow you are seeing is a phosphor material [Ce3+:YAG] which is used in conjunction with blue LEDs to produce white light. There are alternative methods using aluminum zinc sulfide, europium phosphors, and copper, but these are not as efficient as using Ce3+:YAG and also produce more heat. Some companies use a thick diffuser or lens to obscure the phosphor, but this can heavily reduce the emitted light. We use Ce3+:YAG with minmal use of diffusers, rather we focus on lens design to maximize efficiency. The phosphor is only noticeable when looking directly straight on at the LED relatively close up and only when it is turned off, it is not noticeable at all when the lights are on, and is in fact required to produce white light.
